Use two comparisons, not just the sticker price.
First divide the one-time product price by labeled servings. Then, when the label states collagen quantity separately, compare cost per gram of collagen. The first helps with budgeting; the second helps compare quantities. Neither measures product quality or clinical benefit.
| Formula | Listed price | Labeled servings | Calculated cost / serving |
|---|---|---|---|
| Multi Collagen Protein Powder Large | $39.99 | 63 | $0.63 |
| Wild Caught Marine Collagen Peptides Powder | $54.99 | 50 | $1.10 |
| Multi Collagen Peptides Powder Platinum | $39.99 | 30 | $1.33 |
Why the same price can mean a different purchase
The standard Large and Platinum powders both list at $39.99, but the manufacturer lists 63 and 30 servings respectively. Platinum also contains additional ingredients. That makes cost per serving useful, but it would be misleading to call the products equivalent or select a winner using this one number.
A worked quantity example
The plain marine powder description lists 9 grams of collagen and 50 servings. That is 450 grams of labeled collagen per container. At $54.99, the calculated cost is about $0.12 per gram. This calculation uses manufacturer figures; we have not independently measured the contents.
Try your own numbers
Keep the basis consistent
- Compare one-time prices with one-time prices, or include the same subscription terms for both.
- Use collagen quantity, not total powder weight, for blends containing other ingredients.
- Include shipping and taxes if you are comparing the actual delivered cost.
- Do not treat the calculation as a suggested dose or a measure of effectiveness.

Choose the denominator before doing the arithmetic
Price per serving answers what one labeled serving costs. Price per gram answers a quantity question, provided the amount refers to the same named ingredient in both products. Neither is automatically the right measure for every comparison. Write the denominator next to the result so that the number stays meaningful.
A second example: delivery changes the result
Suppose a hypothetical package is $25 plus $8 delivery and contains 30 labeled servings. Its delivered serving cost is $33 divided by 30, or $1.10. Using only the sticker price gives about $0.83. A second package with free delivery can therefore compare differently after delivery costs are included. This example is arithmetic, not a live offer.
Save the assumptions with the result
Note the package size, price date, purchase type and whether shipping or discounts were included. If a price requires multiple containers, calculate the total commitment as well as the unit price. The calculator uses the numbers you enter; it cannot verify a label, promotion or subscription condition for you.
